About project

thlang.top is a Thai language dictionary and learning platform, created primarily for Russian speakers.

Thai is difficult to learn not because it is inherently complex, but because almost all high-quality materials are in English. Dictionaries, tone explanations, ready-made flashcard sets: everything is English-Thai. If you do not read English fluently, you are cut off from the majority of what has been written about the Thai language.

We do the same thing, but in Russian. And at the same time, we show English alongside it.

Russian and English simultaneously

All meanings, examples, analyses, and etymologies in the dictionary are stored in two languages and displayed together — your language first, with the second language next to it.

This is not just a translation of the interface. By reading a dictionary entry, you simultaneously learn Thai and improve your English: the Russian text keeps you afloat, while the English serves as a bridge to those very materials that do not exist in Russian.

What you can do here

Dictionary and Search

You can search in any way: using Thai script, Latin characters, Russian, or English. Thai can be found both with and without spaces. And if you heard a word but don't know how it's written, write it in Latin characters as you heard it: the search will find words with a similar sound.

Romanization and Tones

Paste Thai text into the Romanizer to get Latin, Cyrillic, and a reading guide using Thai letters, broken down by syllables. For each syllable, it shows why it has that specific tone: consonant class, live or dead syllable, vowel length, and tone mark.

Phrase Analysis

Can't tell where one word ends and another begins in a Thai phrase? Paste it into Morphology — the phrase will be broken down into dictionary words, each with its meaning and audio. A separate AI button will analyze the entire phrase: literal translation, natural translation, and grammar broken down by parts.

→ Phrase analysis

AI Word Analysis

Is a word missing from the dictionary? Request an analysis — the AI will compile an entry: component parts, meanings by part of speech, examples, and etymology. You will receive a notification when it is ready.

→ AI word analysis

Collections

Save words you encounter into collections using the + button on any word page. Collections can be shared, you can join others', and the content can be exported and imported via file.

→ Word collections

Training

Words from collections are turned into spaced-repetition flashcards. You don't grade yourself — the score is derived from how you answered and how long you thought. In addition to recognition, there is a reverse side: assembling a phrase from words, and then typing the word yourself.

Slides and Presentations

For teachers: a slide builder with a presentation mode. Students scan a QR code, and the slides on their phones flip along with yours. Clicking any Thai word opens the dictionary next to the slide.

Telegram and Notifications

Via Telegram, you can log into the site without a password and receive study reminders — with a list of words and a button that opens the training immediately. Alternatively, use browser push notifications if you don't need Telegram.

Where the data comes from

  • Several thousand articles are taken from the website thai-language.com — the tone notation format we use also comes from there.
  • The Royal Institute of Thailand Dictionary — translated articles with source attribution.
  • AI analyses requested by users.
  • Edits, examples, and links between words added by users.

Therefore, articles have labels: ✓ verified — the article was checked by an editor, ✦ AI — the article was compiled by AI, ⚠ unverified — the article was added by a user and has not been reviewed yet. These labels are trustworthy: an unverified article may very well contain an error.

Found an error or a missing word
